# /master timer: Start and Stop the Global Event Timer

> Use /master timer to start and stop the global countdown timer displayed to all players. The parkour mini-event manages its own timer automatically.

The global event timer displays a visible countdown to all connected players and is used to track time-limited phases throughout the event. Use `/master timer` to start a countdown for any custom timed segment, or to stop it when the phase ends or the situation changes.

## Start the Timer

Start a countdown by specifying the number of seconds remaining. The timer becomes visible to all players immediately.

**Syntax:**

```bash theme={null}
/master timer start ;seconds;
```

Replace `;seconds;` with the desired countdown duration in seconds.

**Example — start a 10-minute countdown:**

```bash theme={null}
/master timer start 600
```

## Stop the Timer

Stop and hide the timer for all players at any time.

**Syntax:**

```bash theme={null}
/master timer stop
```

## Clear the Timer

You can also clear the timer entirely using the data command. This stops the timer and removes it from all players' displays.

```bash theme={null}
/master data clear timer
```

> [!NOTE]
>
> The **MINI\_EVENTS parkour phase** manages its own internal 10-minute timer automatically — you do not need to start the timer manually when parkour begins. Use `/master timer start` for custom timed segments, operator-controlled countdowns, or any phase that does not handle its own timing automatically.
