# /master voicechat: Toggle Voice Chat for All Players

> Use /master voicechat to enable or disable the Simple Voice Chat speak permission for all players. Automatically disabled during WAITING_PLAYERS.

Crystal Legacy integrates with [Simple Voice Chat](https://modrinth.com/plugin/simple-voice-chat) and manages the `voicechat.speak` permission automatically based on the current event state. The `/master voicechat` command lets you manually override that permission for all players when you need explicit control over who can speak during the event.

> You generally don't need to use this command manually — the automatic behavior handles voice chat correctly for each event state. Reserve manual overrides for exceptional situations where the default logic doesn't meet your needs.

## Automatic Behavior

Crystal Legacy adjusts voice chat automatically as the event moves through its states:

| Event State | Voice Chat |
| - | - |
| `WAITING_PLAYERS` | Automatically set to `false` for everyone |
| All other states | Enabled for all players |

Voice chat is disabled during `WAITING_PLAYERS` so players don't talk over the waiting screen before the event begins.

## Manual Override

To manually enable or disable voice chat for **all** players — including OPs — run:

```bash theme={null}
/master voicechat true
/master voicechat false
```

This immediately applies the `voicechat.speak` permission change server-wide.

## Resetting to Default

To clear the manual override and return voice chat to its automatic state-driven behavior, run:

```bash theme={null}
/master data clear voicechat
```

After clearing, Crystal Legacy resumes managing the `voicechat.speak` permission automatically based on the active event state.
