Setting up the Crystal Legacy server takes only a few minutes. The server archive includes everything you need — the Fabric server JAR, all required mods, pre-built world files, and platform-specific launch scripts. Follow the steps below to go from a fresh download to a fully operational event server.
Crystal Legacy requires Java 21. Running the server on an older JDK will produce startup errors. Verify your Java version with java -version before proceeding.

Requirements

If you do not want to manage a machine yourself, Pterodactyl or Pelican are excellent open-source game panel options. Both support custom Fabric server eggs, give you a clean web UI for file management and console access, and make it easy to restart the server between events.

Setup Steps

1

Download and extract the server archive

Download server.zip from the link provided by your event organizer or the Crystal Legacy distribution page. Extract the archive to a dedicated folder on your machine or upload panel.
Extract on Linux / macOS
On Windows, right-click server.zip in File Explorer and choose Extract All…, then open the extracted folder.
2

Choose your hosting environment

Crystal Legacy runs anywhere Java 21 is available:
  • Local machine — suitable for LAN events or personal testing.
  • Pterodactyl / Pelican panel — upload the extracted server folder via the panel’s file manager or SFTP, then configure a new server using a Fabric egg. Set the startup command to ./boot.sh (Linux) or point it at boot.bat (Windows containers).
  • Any game host — most hosts that support custom JARs or Fabric servers will work. Upload the files via FTP/SFTP and point the startup script at boot.sh or boot.bat.
3

Launch the server

Use the script that matches your platform. Both scripts apply the recommended JVM flags and allocate the appropriate memory automatically.
4

Configure your license

Crystal Legacy is a licensed product, and the very first boot is expected to shut the server down immediately after logging a large license error banner to the console. This is normal first-run behavior — the server auto-creates the license config file so you can fill it in, then exits. You will see output similar to this on that first boot:
First-boot console output
Open config/crystal-legacy-licencia/license.toml inside your extracted server folder and paste the license key from your purchase page into the license field:
config/crystal-legacy-licencia/license.toml
Save the file and start the server again using the same script from the previous step (./boot.sh or boot.bat). On this second boot, the server contacts the license server automatically to validate your key and bind it to this server’s IP address. If everything checks out, the server boots normally.
The license only needs to be entered once per server installation, not on every restart.
Leave debug = false unless support specifically asks you to enable it. This flag prints verbose internal logs about the license verification process and is intended only for troubleshooting with support, not for normal operation.
5

Configure Simple Voice Chat

Crystal Legacy uses the Simple Voice Chat mod for proximity voice. After the first launch, open the voice chat server configuration file and set the port:
/config/voicechat/voicechat-server.properties
Save the file and restart the server for the change to take effect. Players will connect to voice chat automatically through the mod on their client — no additional setup is required on their end.
6

Confirm the server is fully operational

Once the server has restarted with voice chat configured, it is ready for your event. You should see both the Minecraft server console output and a voice chat initialization line similar to:
Share your server’s IP address and port with players and direct them to the Client Setup guide.
